Information Technology-Director
Cheyenne County Hospital is seeking a service-oriented and self-motivated professional to join our team as Director, Information Technology.
Establishes IT direction and goals for Cheyenne County Hospital. Ensures the quality of infrastructure services delivered system wide is maintained at acceptable levels, including managing incident response and escalations, as well as planning for future growth and disaster recovery.
All around IT experience, to include programming, computers, printers, phones, doors and camera systems. You will work with contracted companies who manage the network and the EMR system.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations to include HIPAA security standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the IT department’s operation and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing/negotiating the allocation of resources
- Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
- Ensures appropriate security controls are in place to safeguard those systems, including but not limited to digital files and vital electronic infrastructure, and responds to computer security breaches and viruses.
- Manage financial aspects of the IT department, including purchasing, budgeting and budget review. Forecast costs, equipment and personnel needs for projects and programs as required and related to IT operations.
- Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
- Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
- Supervise the employees of the IT department including annual performance appraisals. Conducts interviews, and makes recommendations for new hires, consultants, and/or replacement personnel.
- Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
- Administer asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment.
- Manage activities including network administration, network security management, site maintenance and troubleshooting, and hardware/software installation and diagnosis along with Contract IT Company.
- Provide support for our EMR (Cerner). Understand all aspects of our EMR and work with the Data Center.
- Provide support for our computer equipment, including PCs, laptops, tablets, network, and other peripheral devices.
- Manage interfaces and other supporting applications (telehealth, faxing, medical images, telephone system, and access control and camera’s).
- Provides day-to-day end user support for both applications and hardware including maintaining appropriate and current licensing, system documentation, and support agreements.
- Responsible for development, implementation and oversight HIPAA Security Plan including data integrity, security threat mitigation, and disaster recovery.
- Will provide training for employees, explaining security risks and demonstrating good practices, such as using strong passwords and protecting data when they use mobile devices outside the office.
- Work with Privacy Officer on IT security audits or investigations.
- Provides timely orientation and training to the hospital staff for new software and procedures both initially and in an ongoing fashion.
- Creates and maintains a prioritized, ongoing capital and minor equipment needs list for budgeting purposes
- Analyzes current systems and plans future systems from various aspects to include efficiency, lifespan, and cost.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in IT technology and remain highly technically competent at all levels of data processing while striving for enhanced user productivity through implementation of new software technology where applicable, and the implementation of policies that more effectively utilize IT resources.
- Attends meetings as required, including Data Center IT monthly core team call.

Experience:
Previous Information Technology experience in a hospital setting preferred, including computer proficiency.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field preferred.
High School diploma/GED
