Anesthesia
Anesthesia services are available 24 hours per day at Cheyenne County Hospital. Surgical anesthesia, epidural pain control for childbirth. The CRNA also assists with emergency airway management for patients with trauma or medical emergencies.
CRNAs are advanced practice registered nurses who are board certified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). CRNAs are highly trained clinicians who are qualified to deliver the full spectrum of anesthesia services, including pain management in every type of healthcare setting. CRNAs provide care before, during and after surgical, therapeutic/diagnostic and obstetrical procedures. (AANA, 2025)
At Cheyenne County Hospital, the CRNA is on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide obstetrical pain relief, sedation for procedures in the ER, and assistance with the stabilization and transfer of high acuity medical/trauma patients, including intubation and sedation services. CRNAs also manage and carry out the anesthesia care of scheduled surgical/procedural patients. When Alicia is gone, you might meet Chuck, Heather, Nick or Jedidiah, all CRNAs who are well versed in the happenings of anesthesia in the rural setting.
